Mystical Geometry: The Dunes of UAE
Acrylic on canvas
This collection was born from my time in the UAE desert—where I hiked through endless dunes, immersed in the vastness of sand and sky. The desert itself is already an abstraction, a landscape stripped to its purest form. No distractions, no boundaries—just an infinite expanse shifting with the light and wind. It's overwhelming beauty made me wonder: How can I paint this? How can I capture a place that feels both endless and ever-changing?
In "Mystical Geometry: The Dunes of UAE," I chose to leave the dunes untouched, preserving their raw, fluid grace. But within this abstraction, I introduced something that does not belong—mysterious, basic geometric forms that stand in quiet contrast to the organic waves of sand. These shapes add a sense of the surreal, an element of intrigue that turns the familiar into something unknown.
This series consists of two large paintings—one of the desert at night, the other in daylight. Yet, distinguishing between the two is intentionally difficult. The colors shift, the forms merge, and time itself seems to dissolve within the composition. Is it dawn or dusk? Night or day? The ambiguity is part of the mystery, much like the desert itself—a place where reality bends, and the horizon is never quite where you expect it to be.
