About

Rita Rawashdeh is an architect and self-taught artist who moves between Jordan and the United States. Over her more than 20 years in architecture, she has focused on designing spaces that emphasize simplicity, nature, and human connection. With Creative Design Lab, her firm in Jordan and Abu Dhabi, Rita led concept-driven architectural solutions, shaping concept-driven architectural solutions.

In recent years, Rita’s artistic journey has evolved, melding her architectural background with a deeply intuitive creative process. Her new work merges composition, texture, and storytelling, making her transition from architect to artist an organic expansion rather than a departure.

In her interview with Al-Mamlaka TV, Rita explained: “My life took an unexpected turn—one I never planned for but deeply needed. I found myself craving a different rhythm, away from the relentless pace of deadlines and expectations. I needed to step back, breathe, and create. Art became my way of slowing down and finding balance.”

A researcher as much as an artist, Rita thrives on uncovering connections—between history, philosophy, design, and emotion—allowing intuition to guide her from inquiry to creation. Curiosity is the launching point for her artistic process, from which deeply expressive, meaningful works emerge.

“From a young age, painting was my way of understanding the world—an instinctive language I felt before I could put thoughts into words. My grandmother, a gifted tailor and storyteller, sparked my love for art. Like many artists, I struggled with dyslexia, which led me toward visual expression rather than written language. Art became more than a skill; it became the lens through which I see, feel, and translate my experiences into something tangible and meaningful.”

Her most recent solo exhibition, Memories, was a sold-out success, featuring 76 paintings across four thematic collections: Faces, Voices of Florence, Architecture and Nature, and Mystical Shapes. Following her debut solo exhibition in Amman, Jordan, Memories solidified Rita’s reputation as a rising artist whose work resonates deeply with collectors and audiences alike.

Now based in Chicago with her husband, Rita leads a concept studio where she seamlessly integrates her expertise in both art and architecture while embracing her newfound rhythm. Here she can explore and develop ideas that translate into thought-provoking visuals and immersive artistic experiences.
